The Lion Surplus Store is open to the public Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

What payment methods do you accept?
The Lion Surplus Store accepts cash, personal checks, and MasterCard/Visa debit and credit cards for general items. For information on acceptable payment methods for vehicle and auction sales, visit our Payment Methods page.
Do you deliver?
Lion Surplus is typically only permitted to deliver items to University Park departments, but will deliver to other Penn State locations if the delivery is scheduled in conjunction with a Lion Surplus pick-up at that location. Only sales paid for with a Penn State Purchasing Card are eligible for delivery. There is a $15.00 delivery charge on departmental purchases totaling less than $50.00. The removal of personal purchases is the responsibility of the purchaser.

Yes, we are happy to offer loading assistance on all purchases.

Unfortunately, Lion Surplus is not able to offer this service. We encourage you to call us at 814-865-4371 as often as you like to ask if a desired item is on the public sales floor.
What types of items do you carry?
Lion Surplus carries a vast array of University-owned items. We have sold airplanes for the University Park Airport; lab, office, and kitchen equipment; Fleet vehicles; boats from Stone Valley; and many other items. We encourage you to take a look at the vehicles available for bid and view some of the items currently in our inventory.
Are the bicycles on the second floor of the Lion Surplus Store for sale?
We store these lost/abandoned bicycles for University Police. Although some of these bicycles are turned over to Lion Surplus to sell at our Lion Surplus Store throughout the year, the vast majority are only available to the public at the bike auction we hold each spring.

Employees may purchase the following items from their departments: personal computers and accessories, personal chairs and/or desks, and leftover construction, renovation, or scrap materials that are used or obsolete. For more information, see Procedure BS2011 (pdf).
Can my department donate items to an outside company or organization?
The University frequently receives requests to donate items to charitable and nonprofit organizations. While the University is not in a position to donate University-owned property due to specific state and federal requirements concerning the disposal of much of our equipment, Lion Surplus has been able to help groups purchase equipment at substantially discounted prices.
