Any University department may send University-owned equipment, supplies, and/or materials that are obsolete, surplus, or scrap to Lion Surplus for disposal. Lion Surplus will sell or dispose of the items as outlined in Procedure BS2011 (pdf). Lion Surplus disposes of all University-owned equipment through sales, bids, or auctions.
How to Send Items to Lion Surplus: To send your department’s surplus material to Lion Surplus, you must complete a DISP form in IBIS. (If IBIS is unavailable, please contact Lion Surplus.) Once you have obtained the proper approvals, forward two copies of the form to Property Inventory. Lion Surplus will then arrange to pick up the surplus item.
Hazardous Equipment and Materials: Please remember that Lion Surplus does not accept certain items (including batteries and fire extinguishers), and that some items must be prepared according to procedures outlined by Environmental Health and Safety before being sent to Lion Surplus. For more information, consult Environmental Health and Safety’s Procedures for the Proper Disposition of Equipment and Materials (pdf).
